The neighbourhood regeneration, housing and estate management committee was asked to approve a tender from the council’s construction services division to carry out the work in Douglas.

Mark Flynn committee convener said: “This is the kind of work that contributes to building robust communities as well as helping people there to have an influence on the kind of place they live.

“There is also a real need for us all to reduce energy bills and tackle climate change, and with more efficient windows and doors, these homes will contribute to that vital effort.”

Depute convener Lynne Short added: “In addition as well as the council’s in-house Construction Services division being recommended for the work, both sub-contractors are also local firms, helping to boost community wealth building activities in the city.”

Work is expected to start early next year and run for around eight months.

Also at the meeting, the committee approved the Dundee Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2024-2029 and a consultation on proposed rent increases between 3.5% and 4%.
