Up to 50 students at the University of Dundee can participate in Social Bite’s Sleep in the Park next month after a deal was agreed with the students’ union.

The Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA) has obtained 50 free tickets for the event which is aiming to raise money to eradicate homelessness across Scotland.

DUSA President, Sean O’Connor, told Scottish Housing News: “DUSA and the University of Dundee are proud to work in partnership to support Social Bite’s campaign to end homelessness in Scotland. Sleep in the Park will involve 9,000 people sleeping out in the cold to raise money that will go directly towards fighting homelessness.

“Thanks to our partnership with the University and Social Bite, DUSA has managed to obtain 50 free tickets for students of the University. These are being supplied on a first-come-first-served basis so email president@dusa.co.uk now.

“Nobody should have to sleep rough or spend time without a home, this is an opportunity for us to actively support Social Bite but we must not think one-off support is enough, we must fight to end homelessness as much as we all can”

Sleep in the Park will see 9,000 people to sleep rough in West Princes Street Gardens on December 9 with a live concert with rare acoustic performances from Liam Gallagher, Deacon Blue, Amy Macdonald and Frightened Rabbit.
