Dundee unveils changes to housing allocation policy
Dundee City Council, Hillcrest, Abertay and Caledonia housing associations have joined forces to launch of a new housing allocation policy for Dundee.
The Common Housing Register will offer improved access and choice for people who want to rent houses form social landlords in the city.
John Alexander, convener of Dundee City Council’s housing committee, said: “The new Common Housing Register means that anyone who applies to any of the landlords in the scheme will be on a single waiting list.
“They can then be offered housing by any of the four landlords who will now be able to target appropriate houses toward those most in need.”
From its launch yesterday, council officers will be contacting all applicants on the Common Housing Register to let them know about any changes which affect them and to ensure they are making the best of their housing options.
Ian Thomson, chief executive of Abertay Housing Association, said: “Our experience of the Common Housing Register has been excellent.
“It is really simple to use as tenants only need to complete one form to unlock access to a wider choice of homes across Dundee.”
