Easthall Park Housing Co-operative was the proud recipient of the “Housing Excellence Small Social landlord of the Year 2015” award in Manchester last week.

In making the award, the judges remarked that this small Co-operative of less than 700 rented homes delivers significant results. Tribute was paid to the fact that with a small staff team it delivers excellent core housing services and achieves high levels of tenant satisfaction.

At the same time it supports the development of their community with a wide variety of activities that go beyond the traditional landlord role - for instance over the last year they supported the creation of 107 volunteering, training and employment opportunities. Furthermore, despite economic challenges, the Co-operative strives to maintain affordable rents and is one of only a handful of social landlords in Scotland which did not raise its rents for 2015/16.

Mary Davidson, chairperson of Easthall Park, said: “It gives us great pleasure that we have been awarded the title of Social Landlord of the year for small organisations as the judges considered our overall performance, views of our tenants from our last satisfaction survey in November 2014 along with the community regeneration work undertaken in our community. This award recognises the hard work of committee, staff, residents and our partners as we make a difference in the lives of those that we represent.”
