Craigie’s Farm and Restaurant is planting seeds of hope by partnering with Edinburgh-based charity Bethany Christian Trust to help tackle homelessness in Scotland.

The family farm chose the Scottish charity as its official charity partner for the next three years as they were inspired by the organisation’s mission of homelessness prevention and crisis intervention.

The charity partnership was announced at an event launch hosted by John Sinclair, chair of the Royal Highland Show and owner of Craigie’s Farm, which took place last Friday at the family farm in South Queensferry. The event was attended by Iain Gordon, chief executive of Bethany Christian Trust, Ann McLaughlan corporate fundraiser at Bethany Christian Trust, as well as staff members from Craigie’s Farm.

Husband and wife team, John and Kirsteen Sinclair, generously invited one of the families that Bethany supports and toured them around the grounds to get a first-hand experience of seeing the Edinburgh farm in action.

Commenting on the charity partnership, Iain Gordon said: “It is such a privilege for Bethany to be the Charity Partner for Craigie’s Farm. We both recognise the importance of relationships and the positive impact that fun experiences with happy memories can have in the lives of families and communities we support. I am looking forward to working with Craigie’s over the next three years as together we seek to transform lives, revitalise communities and change Scotland for good.”

Ann McLaughlan added: “I am absolutely delighted that Craigie’s have chosen Bethany Christian Trust as their charity partner for the next three years. We look forward to getting to know the rest of the team at Craigie’s as we get them involved in our events and we know that this partnership is going to be a fantastic opportunity for both parties involved.”

Situated in South Queensferry, Craigie’s Farm and Café is a local family business that offers customers the chance to pick their own fruit, shop for an impressive selection of groceries, cheeses, and butchery, and the opportunity to wander around the working farm.

John Sinclair said: “We are delighted to announce that for the next 3 years Craigie’s Farm will be supporting the Bethany Christian Trust as our ‘Charity of the Year’.

“We are really looking forward to working closely with the Trust and to support the amazing work that they do. Charities such as the Bethany Christian Trust benefit greatly from working within the community and as a local business we are very excited to be able to put a little something back. We have no doubt that our partnership will be extremely fruitful and that there will be plenty of opportunities for the team and our customers to get involved.”

Established in 1983, Bethany Christian Trust supports over 7,000 people across Scotland. The charity’s services focus on preventing homelessness as well as alleviating the suffering of people who are homeless.
