Edith was an original member of the management committee when GPHC was set up in the early 1990s. She also served as chairperson on a number of occasions through the years.

Edith fought hard with other members of the committee and staff for change to the Gowkthrapple area of Wishaw. She was proud to have been part of an area regeneration project, two new build developments and acquiring a sheltered housing complex in Overtown, Wishaw.

Edith and her husband Bill, were well-known faces at conferences and she enjoyed these events especially sharing ideas and advice with other governing body members throughout the RSL sector. She sadly lost Bill in May 2017 and then due to her health deteriorating she stayed in a care home until her recent passing.

Everyone connected with the Co-op was fond of Edith, who gave so much of her time to the Co-op and the wider community. Her funeral will take place on Tuesday 24 May 2022 at 11.30am in Overtown Parish Church, Wishaw, then 12.30pm at Holytown Crematorium.
