EHRA holds hustings event for Greater Easterhouse residents
Residents from across Greater Easterhouse gathered for a hustings event at Blairtummock Hall in the offices of Blairtummock Housing Association.
Hosted by the Easterhouse Housing and Regeneration Alliance (EHRA), the hustings provided an opportunity to pose questions to the candidates representing Conservative and Unionist, Labour, Scottish National Party and Trade Unionist Socialist Coalition (TUSC).
Linda Cameron, chairperson of EHRA and Provanhall HA, welcomed everyone to the event and Brian Hutcheson from Class 1 Consultants, independent chair, opened the proceedings.
All candidates made opening and closing statements and answered questions from the floor.
The two-hour hustings focused on questions on the challenges of building new social homes in Greater Easterhouse, pensions and WASPI women, the increase in student accommodation, tackling child poverty and the two-child benefit cap, VAT levels on rehab works and the impact of public spending cuts.
Linda Cameron thanked everyone for attending and encouraged everyone to vote on 4 July 2024 and to take their proof of identity to the polling station.
