EVH hails successful Health, Safety & Wellbeing Conference
After selling out well in advance of the event, 80 delegates attended EVH’s 40th Anniversary Year Health, Safety & Wellbeing Conference on May 8.
EVH members who subscribe to its Landlord Safety Manual benefitted from a £40 discount for each delegate attending.
The event started off with some groan-worthy bad jokes from Natasha Gordon of EVH who introduced the first keynote speaker, Professor Roger Willey of ACS Risk Group. Roger talked through the history of health, safety & wellbeing, looking at how far the UK has come in the last 40 years and what challenges employers now face.
The three workshop options of Stress Management, Fire Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation proved to be as popular with delegates as the very tasty buffet lunch provided by the Hilton DoubleTree in Cambridge Street, Glasgow.
Mark Davies of 7Futures led as the afternoon keynote speaker, looking at the importance of changing attitudes towards mental and physical wellbeing in the workplace. Mark highlighted the necessity of turning off at the end of the day and getting a good night’s sleep to maintain a healthy work/life balance.
Natasha’s terrible sense of humour resonated throughout the day, even stating that no accidents, incidents or near misses were reportable at the end of the session.
Exhibitors included the Scottish Fire Service, ACS and Enable Safety Scotland.
EVH said: “All of own staff, exhibitors, workshop facilitators and speakers very much enjoyed the day and we would hope everyone who was able to attend had an interesting and informative time and will join us again at the next EVH event.”
