Falkirk Council opens community voting for local project funding

Voting has opened for Falkirk Council’s Community Choices, giving residents the chance to decide which local projects receive funding in their area.

With 57 eligible projects applying for Small Grants of up to £5000, every vote can make a real difference.

The projects

Projects hoping to secure funding reflect the diverse needs and aspirations of local people.

From helping unpaid carers access technology to funding singalongs that create a sense of belonging for lonely people.

From purchasing equipment for outdoor activities like canoeing and climbing for young people to enjoy to creating a mural that adds colour and vibrancy to a local community.

These projects give a flavour of what voting could make possible.

How to vote

Voting is open until Friday 28 February, and anyone aged 16 or over that lives in the Falkirk Council area can vote:

  • Online at Participate+, the council’s community engagement platform
  • In person using paper ballots available at a local library

Residents can vote for up to three projects in the Ward that they live – but they are not required to use all three votes. Votes only count if they support projects in the ward that the resident lives in.

Winning projects will be announced on Friday 28 March 2025.

What is Community Choices?

Community Choices is Falkirk Council’s participatory budgeting programme that puts control over how public money is spent into community hands.

It provides groups with a way to apply for funding and the local community the power to vote and decide which projects will receive financial support.
