Family-run Edinburgh letting agency scoops top award
A Marchmont family business, At Home in Edinburgh, has won Residential Letting Team of the Year at the Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2024.
The team of just four, led by husband-and-wife duo Rick and Vicky McCann, beat out six other companies for the award.
The Herald Property Awards for Scotland showcase excellence across the property industry, honouring the achievements of Scotland’s most innovative and successful home and commercial builders, developers, agents, interior designers and registered social landlords, with awards across 20 categories.
The Residential Letting Team of the Year award – sponsored by SafeDeposits Scotland – recognises the importance of the rental property industry, with criteria including how teams provided value for their clients, how they distinguished themselves in a crowded marketplace, and their innovation within the sector.
The winners were revealed at the end of September in a glittering ceremony at Glasgow’s Doubletree by Hilton, hosted by radio presenters Des Clarke and Jennifer Reoch.
In announcing the Residential Letting Team of the Year winners, the judges said: “At Home in Edinburgh had a clear and informative web-presence from a landlord, prospective renter or investor’s point of view. They demonstrated five star customer service via telephone and email with a great deal of honestly and helpful information.”
Mike Smith, head of SafeDeposits Scotland, said: “Huge congratulations to all the winners, not least At Home in Edinburgh, winners of the Residential Letting Team of the Year category which we had the privilege of sponsoring.
“This event is so important as it not only highlights the good work of individuals and organisations among their peers, but amplifies this across the wider audience of The Herald readership.”
This is the first year that At Home In Edinburgh have entered the awards.
Director Rick McCann said: “We were delighted just to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award, particularly amongst such well-regarded competition – to go on to win the Residential Letting Team of the Year is fantastic.
“Our team work incredibly hard to support all our clients, from ensuring our processes are simple and streamlined to creating bespoke plans for landlords and tenants to help them through the ongoing cost of living crisis and the changes to the legislation governing the private rental sector.
“The same challenges in the sector have encouraged us to adapt our business to take advantage of new opportunities, allowing us to continue to grow sustainably. I’m very proud that all of this has been recognised by the industry.”
The Herald Property Awards honour is the latest for At Home In Edinburgh, winners of the Scottish Home Awards in 2022 and 2023.
Vicky McCann, At Home In Edinburgh director, added: “This award is further proof that it’s not about being Edinburgh’s biggest letting agency – instead, we place relationships at the core of our business and our aim is for clients to become part of our community.
“The fact that most of our landlords come to us by recommendation really demonstrates the value of our small team.”
