Felix Wight joins Connected Response as commercial director
Heating technology provider Connected Response has appointed Felix Wight to a new role as commercial director.
Felix brings a wealth of industry experience to the role. He spent five years working for the charity Community Energy Scotland before moving into his previous position as technical director at Repowering London, which helps communities fund, install, and manage their own local energy.
Connected Response delivers innovative retrofit storage heating technology for social housing, and as the new commercial director, Felix will identify opportunities to grow the business and take advantage of the ever-changing landscape of sustainable energy generation.
Electricity will power heating and hot water systems in the decades to come, creating many opportunities for the innovative products developed by the Connected Response team. These can be used in properties with electric storage heating to improve people’s heating experience and save energy. Felix’s ability to successfully implement innovative energy projects will be a huge asset in taking full advantage of these opportunities.
Connected Response’s HeatSage technology, which allows people to set the time and temperature for their electric heating, will play a large part in this. It has been shown to reduce energy use by up to 30% and can cut bills by up to £300 per year.
Felix previously worked on social housing projects in London with Connected Response. As a result, he already understands the benefits of Connected Response’s HeatSage technology, the power of the data it can collect and analyse, and the potential for HeatSage to deliver cost savings to social housing landlords and tenants, reduce energy usage and improve their heating experience.
Felix Wight, commercial director, Connected Response commented on his new role: “I have always been driven by the belief that the benefits of sustainable energy generation and community energy should be shared equitably. When Kenny approached me about possibly joining Connected Response, I was excited about working in the private sector for an organisation with a strong social purpose.
“Connected Response has a unique set of skills, technologies and experience that sets it apart. The planned shutdown of the Radio Teleswitch Services (RTS) later this year will be a milestone in the transition to a digital architecture for our energy system, but also a source of worry to the thousands of people who still have analogue heating controls.
“I look forward to working with Kenny and the team to put households in control of their heating, and realise the benefits in comfort, carbon savings and cost. I believe we can build a transformational business that will be a leading energy services provider in the coming decades.”
Kenny Cameron, managing director at Connected Response, added: “Between Felix and Connected Response, I believe we have had an involvement in most of the major community energy projects involving storage heating and hot water over the last 10 years.
“In my experience, Felix is unique in holding a GNVQ in Electrical Engineering, alongside a degree in Human, Social and Political Science and a master’s degree in Energy Policy. This combination of practical and academic training will be a great asset to Connected Response in the years to come.”
Connected Response also recently announced a range of services to support and guide social housing landlords through the Radio Teleswitch Services (RTS) shutdown in June 2025. Services offered include education around the challenges the RTS shutdown presents and solutions to those challenges, action planning and project management for an RTS meter/switch replacement programme.
