Ferguslie Park appoints local supported business to grounds maintenance contract
Ferguslie Park Housing Association (FPHA) has awarded a contract to carry out common grounds maintenance and grass cutting to tenant’s gardens.
Aspire Community Solutions is an award-winning supported business based in Paisley providing a variety of services in ground maintenance and construction.
The business is headed up by dynamic and inspiring young owner Jordan McPhail who set the company up when he was 16 years old. As part of its work, Aspire also delivers training and employability to people who have significant barriers to employment in Renfrewshire.
Jordan said: “Winning the tender for FPHA is an important step in our development as it underlines the importance of public bodies using a supported business like ourselves that help local disadvantaged people but can also deliver quality services and maintain value for money.”
FPHA chief executive, Catrina Miller, said: “By appointing a local supported business for grounds maintenance is a first in Scotland for a housing association. The values of Aspire are a match to the values of FPHA as we change the focus of the organisation to concentrate on delivering more for the community in Ferguslie. Aspire submitted a professional response to our public tender which was really great to see and we would firmly urge public bodies to think about using a local supported business for the delivery of services.”
The work Aspire carries out in Ferguslie will not only include grass cutting but also include litter picking; shrub maintenance and other environmental services all year round.
