Ferguslie Park leads estate clean-up
Ferguslie Park Housing Association (FPHA) has set itself the goal of transforming a Paisley estate into the cleanest in the town.
A team of volunteers joined the Association in picking up rubbish dumped on roads and gardens around the Ferguslie Park scheme.
And FPHA were so delighted with the support from the community that they now aim to hold quarterly clean-ups to transform Ferguslie Park into the tidiest estate in Paisley.
FPHA operations manager, Lindsay Gemmill, said: “We had a great turnout, with enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers joining us to deal with fly-tipping and rubbish problems. We removed scores of bags of rubbish and made a big difference in just one day.
“It’s great to see the whole community working together to improve Ferguslie Park. Of course, the long-term aim is to eliminate the rubbish altogether. This is a great start. And by having quarterly clean-ups involving local adults and children we know we can make a big difference.
“Rubbish on the streets and in gardens has a very negative impact on the residents in the estate. We want to work together to put the pride back on those streets. Making Ferguslie Park clean and tidy is part of our aim to create a community everyone can and should be proud to be part of.
“This clean up removed scores of bags of rubbish. And we want to work together with residents to continue making visible improvements to Ferguslie Park.”
