Fife housing professionals have attended a ‘drop-in session’ organised by Kingdom Housing Association to raise their awareness of drug problems that can impact on communities.

The event at Kingdom’s Saltire office in Glenrothes was attended by staff from housing associations across Fife who heard crime prevention officer, PC Keith McLeod, explain the extent and impact of drug abuse, the law relating to their use, the type of drugs that are available, how they are consumed and the effect on individuals as well as communities.

Kingdom’s health and safety officer, Dave Roy, who organised the event as part of its Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives, said: “The event was well attended, we invited our alliance partners from the other housing associations along including our own staff at Kingdom and we were able to pass on vital information about the various drugs out in society and the medical consequences involved when taken.

“Substance abuse is becoming a major concern in society, the chances of effectively reducing the danger facing people today are increased through education on the serious life threatening consequences that can accompany substance abuse in any form so hopefully the awareness session hopefully enabled our staff and colleagues from other housing associations to spread the word among friends and family.”
