The project will provide 62 high quality and energy efficient homes, which are multi tenure but all affordable, for Hillcrest Housing Association and Perth and Kinross Council. Developer Cullross delivered forty-eight flats across five cores and a further fourteen colony style homes which forms a small courtyard, all designed by jmarchitects.

The Hillcrest properties are let for social rent by Hillcrest Housing Association and for mid-market rent by Northern Housing Company. The local authority properties are also rented.

The project was only completed when Cullross stepped in as main contractor following the untimely demise of Muirfield Contracts part way through the project. Cullross even managed to employ many of the sub-contractors that had lost employment with Muirfield.

Despite this, the development has been a huge success and everyone involved is delighted with the end result.

Graeme Keillor, project manager at Hillcrest, said: “We’re delighted to reach completion with this development and be able to hand over such high quality homes to our tenants. The range of tenures at Jeanfield means that we are creating foundations for the future to the community of Perth.

“It is always satisfying to see a site which had previously been an eye sore to the area be brought back into use and bring benefit to the community. The design and build of these properties is of a very high standard and will provide our tenants with well insulated and energy efficient homes.”

The project has caught a lot of attention since it started in 2014 it was shortlisted for a Scottish Home Award in October 2015 and was the subject of a ministerial visit in December 2015.
