Sponsored by Ross & Liddell, the annual event shines a spotlight on the remarkable achievements and innovations within Scotland’s housing industry.

A rigorous judging process, overseen by a distinguished panel representing organisations from across Scotland, scrutinised over 130 entries across 18 categories that showcased the diversity and ingenuity present in Scotland’s housing sector.

McTaggart Construction has been shortlisted six times for the second year in a row. The family-owned business is a finalist in the Housebuilder of the Year (more than 100 units) category as well as the Age Exclusive Development of the Year and the Affordable Housing Development of the Year (Social Rent 100+ units).

It is also shortlisted in the 2024 awards for the Community Contribution Award; Excellence in Sustainability and Excellence in Customer Service.

The Dalry-based group scooped Housing Regeneration Project of the Year and large Affordable Housing Development of the Year in the Scottish Home Awards last year as well as being crowned Large Apprenticeship Employer of the Year in the Skills Development Scotland awards.

The Dalmarnock Riverside project continues the award-winning regeneration of the former power station site and McTaggart’s partnership with the Link Group has seen two projects at the site up for awards.

The development, just west of the Commonwealth Games village, is in the running for Age Exclusive Development of the Year. The elderly amenity flatted block provides of 48 spacious retirement homes in a modern, seven storey high quality block. A residents’ winter garden on the fifth floor has floor to ceiling glazing and an external terrace to make the most of the panoramic and extensive views across Glasgow.

Phase 3 is shortlisted for Affordable Housing Development Glasgow and consists of 129 distinctive and visually appealing homes for social and mid-market rent. Decorative feature gables provide a distinctive sight along Strathclyde Street as part of the Phase 3A development and in Phase 3B steel frame balconies are visually softened by timber louvres.

A pocket park, which serves the entire development, provides much needed useable green space and a focal point for community activities.

The development captures the McTaggart Construction ethos of going the extra mile to deliver high quality affordable homes that allow residents to live independently whilst in a safe and secure environment suited to their immediate and growing needs.

Lar Housing Trust is also celebrating being shortlisted in four separate categories.

The charity has been selected as a finalist in the following categories:

• Affordable Housing Development (Social Rent under 100 units) - for its development at St Kentigern’s Church, Edinburgh
• Housing Regeneration Project of the Year – St Kentigern’s Church
• Renovation of the Year - St Kentigern’s Church, Edinburgh
• Excellence in Accessibility and Inclusion – for its development dedicated to people with specialist housing needs at Ford’s Road, Edinburgh.

Lar’s chief executive, Ann Leslie, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected as a finalist in these four different categories. It’s a testament to the quality of work our team does and that we are clearly meeting housing needs in Scotland.

“The retrofit of St Kentigern’s Church is a prime example of repurposing abandoned and derelict buildings and breathing new life into them. Our development at Ford’s Road has provided quality and tailored accommodation to some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable people. Winners will be announced at a lottery ceremony in Glasgow on June 13th.
