First-ever Accessibility and Inclusion award winner announced

The inaugural winner of the Accessibility and Inclusion Award, sponsored by Horizon Housing Association, was announced at the Scottish Home Awards 2024.

Primrose Place, Alloa, a partnership between Campion Homes and Kingdom Housing Association, became the first winner of the prestigious award which seeks to raise awareness of accessibility and inclusion in housing design.

Horizon Housing chief executive Lorna Cameron, said: “It is encouraging that accessibility and inclusion are receiving increased awareness thanks to this new award.’” Later in the year, Horizon Housing is hosting a summit at the V&A in Dundee with the Scottish Housing News where issues of accessibility and social care will be a key theme. The event will be sponsored by winners Campion Homes and will be launched by Scottish housing minister, Paul McLennan.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing more outstanding examples of accessible and inclusive homes in coming years as this award highlights the importance of considering disability and ageing when designing homes.”

Bob McDougall, Horizon chair, added: “It is also fantastic to see inclusion and accessibility acknowledged in its award category for the first time.
