First Minister makes a first class impression with Gowrie Care residents
Gowrie Care staff and residents in Glasgow were delighted to host a visit from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon last week.
Ms Sturgeon took the time to visit Gowrie’s homeless support project and find out more about the life changing work that the charity does.
Angela Cameron, Gowrie Care project manager, said: “There was great excitement around our project on the build-up to Ms Sturgeon’s visit. All of the women we support were happy to have her in their home and talk about the difference the support we give them makes to their lives. They were delighted with the amount of time Ms Sturgeon took to pose for photos and chat.
“We work with a number of women in Glasgow to help them build their confidence and self-esteem and develop the skills they need to manage their own tenancy and move on to their own home. I was very proud to see our ladies meet with the First Minister and show her around our project. Even after the visit there was a great buzz about the place which is great for everyone involved. We’ll need to secure another VIP visit soon.”
As well as the residents at Gowrie’s Glasgow project, Nicola Sturgeon had the opportunity to meet with staff including the Hillcrest Group’s chief executive and Gowrie Care’s managing director and chairperson.
