Flats conversion to begin at former Anniesland Jobcentre
Work is set to get underway over the coming months to transform the former Anniesland Jobcentre site into 48 flats, all for private sale.
Housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel, which owns the site, will breathe new life into the concrete office block by transforming it into a more sustainable and attractive development of 46 two-bedroom and 2 three-bedroom flats, with excellent links to public transport.
The properties will see the existing structure improved with brick and bronze façade and extra rooftop penthouses, formed from ‘folded’ golden metal and the addition of a new building.
The site is located just off Great Western Road, on Herschell Street in Anniesland.
The two bedroomed apartments have been designed to five different sizes. This top storey will house penthouse flats which will be clad in a contrasting material and be set back from the main facade.
All of the flats are very spacious and will have generous private open spaces within the development. They have dual aspect to provide lots of natural daylight and will all have large and modern glass balconies.
The transformation of the development will also incorporate contemporary landscaping with trees, hedging, hard landscaping and lighting bollards.
As part of the build, Mactaggart & Mickel will make a number of contributions which will directly benefit the local community. This includes making a planning gain payment of £98,000 to Glasgow City Council, which will go towards upgrading local open space and play facilities.
Craig Ormond, director at Mactaggart & Mickel, said: “Our latest new development is ideally located right in the heart Glasgow’s highly sought-after West End. We are looking forward to starting work on the exciting transformation of this former office block into contemporary, luxury homes which will be an attractive addition to this thriving local area.”
