Flats plan unveiled for stalled Edinburgh care home development
Yeoman McAllister Architects has submitted plans for 25 flats off Station Road in Edinburgh’s Corstorphine district.
Previously home to an electricity substation, the site has planning consent for a care home but building work had been suspended.
The architects said the flats proposal maintains the scale and form of the preceding application while delivering a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The design statement added: “Planning permission for a care home development on the site was previously granted, which, for the avoidance of doubt, has been preserved by the excavation of foundations in association with the erection of herras fencing, intrusive site investigation (boreholes), obtaining a full building warrant and partial site clearance.
“In view of the sites’ current condition and of its location, the proposal will look to create a strong local identity by introducing a high-quality replacement building, which demonstrates a distinctive contemporary language, that respects and is sensitive to its surroundings.”
