Former Locharbriggs logistics yard to be transformed into 89 affordable homes
CCG (Scotland) and Wheatley Homes South are to transform a former logistics yard in Locharbriggs into a new development of 89 homes for social rent.
The masterplan comprises a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom semi-detached houses, two and three-bedroom terraced homes, and two five-bedroom homes on the site adjacent to Catherinefield Farm.
Private and communal green space will be provided throughout the development as well as the provision of 183 car parking spaces.
The homes will benefit from enhanced energy performance and meet the Housing for Varying Needs (HFVN) design standards, set by the Scottish Government, which will ensure they can be suitably adapted in response to evolving tenancy requirements.
Frank McCafferty, Wheatley’s group director of repairs and assets, said: “New homes can change lives and communities and we’re delighted to be working with our partners at Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Scottish Government, contractors CCG and our consultants to deliver these modern, spacious, energy-efficient homes.”
CCG managing director, David Wylie, said: “The Locharbriggs development marks a significant milestone for CCG and Wheatley. As one of our largest clients, we are delighted to extend our partnership in Dumfries and Galloway with Wheatley Homes South, where we will use our proven expertise in construction and manufacturing to build homes to an enhanced quality and energy performance standard.
“Furthermore, our work and positive impact on the local community will extend beyond the boundary of the development with £68,000 set to be donated in support of community-based projects and initiatives.”
Construction works began at Locharbriggs in 2022 with the first homes set to be occupied in 2024.
The development is supported by £9.7 million Scottish Government Affordable Housing Supply Programme funding.
