Former Shetland homes converted into new flats
Shetland Islands Council has completed work to convert four family sized homes into new one-bedroom flats in Firth.
The Leaside flats have been converted from two family sized houses to help to meet local demand for smaller properties.
The flats at 24a, 24b, 25a and 25b will be formally opened at 12pm on January 12, before being allocated to new tenants.
Alastair Cooper, chair of the development committee, the chair of the Delting Community Council and one of the local councillors for Shetland North, said: “I’m really pleased that the council is able to provide these converted flats here in Leaside, allowing individuals and couples more of a chance of being housed in the Firth and Mossbank community.
“The council is committed to make more affordable housing available for rent, so that we can continue to reduce the pressure on our housing waiting lists.”
