Former Wheatley head of development Sandra Lindsay makes move to JR Group
Sandra Lindsay, formerly the head of development at Wheatley Group, has taken on the role as development director for building and construction firm The JR Group.
A chartered planner who is well respected throughout the industry, Sandra brings with her unrivalled experience across the public and private sector, spanning more than two decades, spending time at various posts across the private sector, as well as spending time as a senior planning officer for Stirling Council. Sandra was also on the board for Westscot Living and holds an MBA and post graduate degree in Housing.
Whilst in her latest post at Wheatley Group, Sandra was responsible for a substantial team and delivery of a significant development programme of both social rent and mid-market rent across the central and south-western areas of Scotland. She hopes to use her experience to bolster the ambition of The JR Group and help drive it forward, propelling it into new business areas.
Gary McGregor, managing director for The JR Group, said: “The JR Group has enjoyed continued growth across the sector and Sandra’s appointment cements our passion and drive to keep the business moving in a positive direction.
“Sandra’s reputation as an experienced and respected professional precedes her, and having previously held a senior development role within Scotland’s largest housing group is testament to the skills and attributes she is sure to bring to our team.
“Sandra mirrors our passion for a job well done and her dynamic approach is the perfect fit for us. Her experience across public and private sector, and also within a Council planning department, gives her a unique 360-degree viewpoint that is rare, and we are very much looking forward to seeing what the future holds with Sandra in position.
“A large percentage of our work comes from housing associations and social landlords. Sandra’s knowledge and expertise will help us strengthen our position in this area even more and help us contribute positively in tackling the issues currently faced by this sector.”
Sandra said she was impressed with the passion and drive shown by The JR Group team and felt her skillset can help further build the construction business as it moves forward.
She added: “The JR Group has an impressive reputation across the sector. Despite its growth it hasn’t forgotten its core values and supporting the many communities it works in, which attracted me greatly to the position.
“Having met the team, I already feel empowered to be able to make a difference and a real contribution to the ongoing success of the business. The social sector is in crisis in Scotland with more than 125,000 new homes needed immediately just to meet current demand and more people presenting themselves as homeless than ever before. I believe The JR Group can offer real solutions to its clients in delivering these much-needed units and its past record has shown it can do so with exceptional quality and to a very high standard.
“There’s never been a more exciting time to be a part of The JR Group’s story – with so many developments underway and contracts in the pipeline. I cannot wait to get started.”
