Four new board members welcomed to Clyde Valley Housing Association
Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) welcomed four new members to its board during its Annual General Meeting last week as the Association prepares to launch its new five-year corporate strategy in 2025.
CVHA said the new members bring a diverse range of skills and expertise, further strengthening its governance and strategic planning.
Ranald Brown brings over 13 years of experience in the housing sector. A qualified accountant, he has specialised in public sector roles across the NHS, Local Government, and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Currently, the director of assurance at Wheatley Housing Group, Ranald is well-versed in governance, risk management, financial oversight, data protection, and performance management. He previously served as a board member at the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations for five years.
Alison Glen is a founding director of Barham Glen Architects, with more than 35 years’ experience, primarily in the social housing sector. She specialises in community, conservation, sustainable, and ecological housing design. Alison’s interest in accessibility and inclusive environments led her to train as an NRAC Registered Access Consultant in 2005. She has been a longstanding member of the judging panel for the Glasgow Herald Property Awards since 2010.
Originally from London and now residing in Glasgow, Rory Hughes has built his career in housing policy, campaigns, and public affairs. He has worked as the housing policy lead for the National Union of Students and as an independent housing policy consultant. Currently part of the policy team at the National Housing Federation, Rory leads work on decarbonisation. His previous governance roles include serving on the board at the University of Liverpool and chairing the board at Liverpool Guild of Students.
Deborah Boyle is currently legal counsel at NatWest Group, focusing on commercial and business banking matters. She is also actively involved in sustainability initiatives, particularly those aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Deborah is dedicated to serving her local community and will bring her expertise to help CVHA achieve social justice and sustainability.
Andrew McFarlane, chair of Clyde Valley Housing Association, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ranald, Alison, Rory, and Deborah to the Clyde Valley board. Their wealth of experience will help guide our strategic direction as we prepare to launch our new corporate plan. I am confident their contributions will be invaluable as we continue to focus on providing high-quality, sustainable housing for our communities.”
The AGM also marked the departure of Campbell Boyd, a dedicated board member since CVHA’s formation in 1996. Campbell played a key role in the Association’s early years following the stock transfer of 1,634 homes in Motherwell, Coatbridge, and Douglas. He became a director of CVHA’s subsidiary, CVPS, in 2010 and was appointed chair of the CVHA board in 2012. Clyde Valley wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Campbell for his years of dedication and service.
Additionally, the Association would like to acknowledge the passing of Helen Layden on 24 August at St Andrew’s Hospice. Helen, a CVHA tenant since 1999, joined the CVHA Board in 2003, serving until 2012. She was an active member of the Customer Panel until retiring due to health reasons in 2020. Clyde Valley offered its deepest condolences to Helen’s family and honours her contributions to the Association.
