Fresh funding on offer for groups at the heart of East Dunbartonshire communities

Community groups in East Dunbartonshire are being invited to follow in the wake of Caurnie Angling Club – which recently netted a funding boost to help it power forward with improvement plans.

The next round of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Community Grants Scheme will be open for applications between 1 and 26 July 2024.

It’s a chance for organisations carrying out work at the heart of local towns and villages to apply for either a grant of up to £5,000 or a grant of up to £10,000. The maximum, over the course of the year, a group can ask for is £15,000.

Organisations who would like further information or support are being invited to a workshop in Auchinairn Community Centre (Beech Road, G64 1NE) on Monday 17 June, from 6-8pm.

The event will give attendees a comprehensive understanding of the application process, lessons on how to navigate grant guidance and eligibility criteria, and a chance to connect with a supportive network. Book via email – communityplanning@eastdunbarton.gov.uk.

Caurnie Angling Club was awarded funding in a previous round to help with facility improvements at Antermony Loch, just outside Milton of Campsie.

Secretary Brian Munro said, “Members of the club are grateful to the council for supporting our off-grid power project via the Community Grants Scheme. We would commend any group to consider it as a source of funding for viable projects which may need external support to make them happen. We were absolutely delighted.”

The online form, guidance and eligibility criteria can be found on the council website.

Applications are being invited from groups which:

  • Have a constitution
  • Have a bank account
  • Are not-for-profit
  • Aim to bring benefits to the residents of East Dunbartonshire.

Funding can be sought for start-up costs, special projects, equipment and salaries.

Ann Davie, chief executive of East Dunbartonshire Council, said, “The Community Grants Scheme regularly supports a huge range of projects – providing funding directly to organisations working to improve the lives of people of all ages. Previous recipients include groups for younger and older people, sporting organisations, regeneration projects and more.”

Applications for the latest round of funding will be accepted between 1 July and noon on 26 July 2024.
