The campaign, which has become a national voice of private renters for professionally managed, secure, decent and affordable homes, needs to raise £60,000 by 31 August after funding was unexpectedly pulled without explanation.

While it is working hard to secure new sources of long term funding, the group said this will take months and it needs help now.

Donators are asked to give just £20 – or what they can afford – to its crowdfunding site, People’s Republic.

Since its launch in March 2014, the group has campaigned successfully to outlaw revenge evictions and cut landlord tax breaks, as well as putting housing at the centre of the General Election campaign.
