Gala Day success for Queens Cross
Almost 2,000 people turned out to enjoy activities at Queens Cross Housing Association’s Gala Day.
Hosted at The Firhill Complex, the first Gala Day since 2019 saw attendees enjoy a range of sports, entertainment, food stalls, arts and crafts activities and fairground rides.
The event is one of the ways the Association demonstrates its commitment to community engagement. It also supports fundraising for its charity, the Queens Cross Community Foundation.
“It was great to see so many families and people of all ages enjoying themselves and a big thanks to all the tenants who volunteered to make the day a success. The Gala Day really demonstrates the diversity of people who make the area what it is,” said Queens Cross depute director of neighbourhood services, Elizabeth Hood, who leads the association’s drive for community involvement.
The Association recently published two new strategies to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion along with tenant participation are at the heart of all its activities.
“We recognise that informing our tenants and customers and listening to their views is essential to helping us deliver services that meet their needs. To achieve this we are encouraging more local people to get involved in what we do and influence the services they receive from us. Our two new strategies will help us achieve that,” added Elizabeth.
Queens Cross manages around 4,500 homes in northwest Glasgow.
