Glasgow City Mission marks 50th night of Overnight Welcome Centre
The first 50 nights of Glasgow City Mission’s 2022/23 Overnight Welcome Centre have seen hundreds of guests accessing the service who were otherwise at risk of rough sleeping, the charity has revealed.
Since this season’s centre opened on 1 December, the charity has been able to offer a bed in a warm, safe and secure room to everybody who has needed one.
A spokesperson said: “Our day teams work tirelessly and constantly with those we have assisted, trying to secure long-term solutions.
“So far, we have managed to prevent 184 people rough sleeping. Of that 184, we have been able to help 18 guests return home who would otherwise be stranded.
“We have also been able to work out solutions with 12 of our guests who were able to source accommodation with friends and family. One guest who accessed our service now has their own tenancy and no longer requires emergency support.
“A massive thank you to all of our partners without whom this work would not be possible!”
