Glasgow Credit Union celebrates win at Consumer Credit Awards
Glasgow Credit Union scooped the award for Best Credit Union (North) at last night’s national UK Consumer Credit Awards.
The credit union was shortlisted for three awards in total - Firm of the Year, Best Credit Union (North) and the Healthy Culture Champion Award.
Now in its 5th year, the Consumer Credit Awards puts consumers at the heart of the industry, with awards decided by customer votes and not ‘industry experts’. Previous year’s winners and nominees include, Barclaycard, CapitalOne, Experian, StepChange, Fair for You and Admiral.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the awards ceremony was held virtually this year, and winners were announced in a digital ceremony held last night.
Glasgow Credit Union has been operating for over 30 years and is the UK’s largest credit union, providing savings, loans and mortgages to people who live or work within the G postcode area. For the Consumer Credit Awards 2020, they were up against stiff competition, from some well-known high-street names.
David Ross, chief executive of Glasgow Credit Union, said: “We’re delighted to have won the Best Credit Union (North) Award, and to have been shortlisted for the other awards. It means so much to us as the winners and finalists for these awards are decided by customer votes. For us to have gained enough votes to win really speaks volumes about how passionate our members feel about the credit union and the service we provide.”
The Consumer Credit Awards are run by Smart Money People, the UK’s review and insight platform for financial services.
