Glasgow flats development to go ahead
A plan to build hundreds of flats for rent in a high-profile part of the massive Glasgow Harbour development has been given the go-ahead.
Kippax, part of the Dandara Group, are building a total of 342 flats, of which 78 will be studio flats, 134 one-bedroom flats, and 130 two-bedroom flats, all of which will be available for mid-market rent.
The homes will be built as part of the third phase of a scheme that saw five blocks of flats - now completed and occupied - built in phases one and two.
The phase three flats will be in a block ranging in height from 12 to 16 storeys, which will be decorated with acid etched pre-cast stone, granite and quartz coloured panels and bronze coloured metal Juliet style balconies.
There will be shops, offices and a gym in the ground floor of the building, and the homes are being marketed towards young professionals who don’t want to buy.
Glasgow City Council’s planning committee approved the plans despite negative comments which planning officers said had “been received from members of the public and from MPs, MSPs and the elected members of the council”.
The objections led to revisions in the final planning application.
