Care and support teams from across Scotland gathered at a glamorous awards ceremony in Dundee last week.

Now in its second year, the Gowrie Care Accolades brought together care staff from throughout the country at the Hillcrest Group of Companies headquarters’ in the city’s Technology Park for an evening of celebrations.

After having their photos taken on the red carpet, the nominees and guests enjoyed canapés and a few refreshments before taking their seats for the main event.

The team behind the innovative Modern Apprenticeship Care Course programme took home the Good Practice/Collaboration Award.

Project lead and Gowrie Care area manager, Chris Robb, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for our hard work, good practice and collaboration.

“The Care Course has been a fantastic way for us to recruit people who really care into our organisation.

“It has been great working with the apprentices, who all have bright futures ahead of them, and with our colleagues at Craigowl Communities and Dundee and Angus College; together we have created a meaningful course that has set these young people on the path to a rewarding career in care.”

The Improving People’s Lives Award went to Gowrie Care’s South Fort Street and Bruntsfield services in Edinburgh, who won the award for the range of therapeutic placements they offer to current and former Gowrie Care residents.

Gowrie Care managing director, Damian McGowan, said: “With six projects shortlisted and only two categories competition was always going to be tight.

“We have an exceptional workforce and I am very proud of all our teams however it was the two winners who impressed the judges the most. Well done to you all.”

Gowrie Care provides support to more than 700 people across Angus, Dundee, Edinburgh, Fife, Glasgow and Perthshire for a client group of people with learning disabilities and people with mental health issues, homeless people, people with addictions and people on the autism spectrum.
