Graeme Bruce appointed head of sustainability at Link Group
Link Group has taken a significant step in its sustainability journey in recruiting Graeme Bruce as its new head of sustainability.
Mr Bruce, who has held a senior role with Link partner West Highland Housing Association for over 12 years, will lead the delivery of Link’s ambitious decarbonisation programme.
Neil Hall, Link Group director of corporate services, said: “We are delighted to welcome Graeme into this crucial new role during an exciting period of growth and change for the organisation – all focused on delivering fantastic services and homes more sustainably.
“One of Graeme’s first tasks will be to establish decarbonisation targets, funding sources and to incorporate de-carbonisation timescales across all Link’s physical assets and embed decarbonisation in the asset management strategy.
“This is a significant piece of work as it will incorporate over 10,000 homes across four Link partner organisations but Graeme will have the full support of Link’s senior teams and staff from across the group to get the job done.”
Sustainability is a key strand of Link’s new Business Sustainability Plan (BSP), which was published last month.
Underpinned by the UN’s and the Scottish Government’s sustainability goals, Link’s BSP focuses on supporting people and communities, building success and corporate wellbeing.
Graeme Bruce added: “It’s fantastic to be leading on Link’s vision for sustainability and I’m really excited to get started in this role.
“Alongside the vital technical and strategic work required, I feel it is also important to ensure staff and boards are educated in all aspects of sustainability so they really embrace the journey to zero net carbon – and I look forward to building these relationships so Link can truly be a champion of sustainable communities.”
Mr Bruce’s recruitment is another important milestone in what has been a period of significant growth for Link, which, following a successful tenant ballot, is welcoming the Weslo Housing Management team and tenants into Link – making it one of the largest and most geographically diverse social housing organisations in the country.
