Green light for Ayrshire Housing development

Planning permission has been granted for an affordable housing development to be built on agricultural land in Kirkmichael.

Twelve homes have been earmarked for land across from 42 to 46 Bolestyle Road.

The homes include four detached and four semi-detached properties, located within the 0.45-hectare site.

Ayrshire Housing sought a renewal of permission previously given in 2021.

Renewal of that earlier planning permission has now been granted.

Council papers state: “The current application is a further application which seeks to extend the timescale for implementing the previous planning permission for erection of a residential development consisting of 12 dwelling houses and associated works.

“Given the nature of the application, the design of the development remain unchanged from that approved under the earlier application.

“In summary, the development which was granted planning permission involves the erection of 12 new residential properties which are to be managed and operated by a local housing association.

“Four semi-detached dwellings, and four detached properties are proposed. Four properties are located in part along the frontage of the site at Bolestyle Road, with the remainder being located throughout the rear portion of the site.”

A new access road will also be formed towards the southern corner of the site.

Private parking for each unit is provided by a combination of in-curtilage parking, and via a parking court accessed from Meadowbank Place.

And each property will have private garden ground, along with an open amenity area at the entrance to the site from Bolestyle Road.

The properties include a combination of single storey buildings and one-and-three-quarter-storey builds.

The council papers continue: “With regard to affordable housing, the development proposal is entirely for affordable housing for use by a housing association.”

In approving the renewal of the application, council papers added: “There have been no significant changes in the setting of the application site, or its surroundings, which would warrant a different recommendation. The application has been considered in this context.

“In view of the planning history of the site, and having balanced the applicant’s rights against the general interest, it is recommended that the application is approved.”
