HACT Fuel Fund reaches £2m milestone in fuel voucher distribution
HACT has revealed that its fuel fund programme has distributed more than £2 million worth of fuel vouchers to households across England, Scotland, and Wales since November 2023.
This funding has provided direct energy support to nearly 7,000 households, ensuring critical funds are available to help families and individuals stay warm and manage their energy costs during challenging times.
The programme’s success is a collective achievement made possible through collaboration with 242 housing associations, local authorities, and charities who work alongside HACT to ensure support reaches those who need it most.
Feedback from the organisations involved, highlight what a difference the fund has made:
- “It has been a vital lifeline for our tenants this year, and given the ongoing cuts, it will continue to be essential.”
- “The fuel fund was an invaluable resource in helping our tenants, especially those in low-income households, during these challenging times. I sincerely hope a similar scheme will be available this winter.”
With Winter fast approaching the ongoing fuel fund continues to serve as a critical lifeline for vulnerable households facing increasing pressures due to the cost-of-living crisis and dropping temperatures. The feedback from recipients of the fund continues to demonstrate the positive impact from the programme, with one recipient saying, “They have really helped me out financially, mentally and eased a big burden of cost at this time with the cost of living crisis we are all going through.”
Another said, “voucher was a great help it was easier for me to choose with keeping my house warm or eating.”
As we enter the colder months, the need for this programme becomes increasingly critical. Rising energy prices and reduced government support have intensified the financial burden on many households. HACT’s Fuel Fund Programme is dedicated to addressing this gap, providing immediate assistance whilst fostering a longer-term impact on community resilience and wellbeing.
With approximately £800,000 in funding still available, HACT is committed to supporting more households through the end of the year. As such, additional housing providers, local authorities, and charities are invited to register with for the Fuel Fund and help extend this support to more people in need.
