Harbour Homes supports tenants with grants for essentials
Harbour Homes is proactively taking measures against the rising cost of living for its tenants.
Since April, it has invested £30,000 to provide housing starter packs with high-quality used furniture for new tenants. Eligible tenants receive vouchers for up to £500 to choose and have furniture delivered free of charge.
Additionally, Harbour Homes has secured £15,000 in funding for one-off grants to help tenants purchase furniture, flooring, and white goods. It has also established £6,000 and £3,000 funds for carpeting/flooring and white goods, respectively.
Fiona Whitelaw, tenant advice team leader at Harbour Homes, said: “With the cost of living crisis showing little sign of abating and changes to the Scottish Welfare Fund, unfortunately many more of our tenants are finding it increasingly difficult to pay for essentials such as flooring, furniture and white goods.
“We’re really proud of all the work we’re doing to secure and free up funding so people can have these essentials in their homes.”
