Hawthorn Housing welcomes double grant from Scottish Government
Two Hawthorn Housing Co-operative projects will receive grant funding from the Scottish Government in order to continue into 2016/17.
The Co-operative will receive the grant funding to extend the provision of essential community-led services for people living in the Possilpark area of Glasgow for another year. Both projects involve partnership working.
The Support Officer Service tackles poverty and social isolation amongst tenants of Hawthorn and Copperworks Housing Co-operatives, and Blochairn, Cadder and Spireview Housing Associations.
The second award is for the Positive Possilpark Partnership to support work done by Young People’s Futures, Stepping Stones for Families and Children’s Inclusion Partnership. The Partnership has been successful in forging links between generations and cultures living in the community, building the skills, esteem and confidence of young people in particular.
Helen Graham, chair of the Co-operative, said: “We are delighted to receive this continuation grant funding, which the Scottish Government announced in March. It will ensure that our community continues to receive these essential services provided by our partners. We can see the real difference it makes to our community”.
