Hebridean Housing Partnership opens new development in Balivanich
A new housing development launched by Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) was officially opened on Thursday 11 August.
Johnstone Court in Balivanich was named after Donald John Johnstone, a popular and well-respected taxi driver. The development was opened by his sister, Agnes Johnstone.
Lesley Ann Wicks is now a proud resident of one of the new homes in Johnstone Court. She said: “I love my kitchen as I’ve never been able to fit a table and chairs in and is far superior to what I expected.
“If every house is built the same as this, everyone will have a great house.”
Local contractor, Calmax Construction Ltd, completed the work of 10 social rental housing providing homes for families. This new development continues the success of HHP in delivering quality affordable housing throughout the Outer Hebrides with funding from the Scottish Government and assistance from the Comhairle.
Among the attendees were tenants Lesley-Ann Wicks, Catherine Monk with Jessie MacPherson from the Johnstone family, board members Alison Maccorquodale and Iain M MacLeod, and HHP officers Dena MacLeod, Linda Johnston, Katie Walker and Roddy Wilson and Matthew Hebditch (TIG).
