The Help to Adapt initiative will see homeowners aged 60 or over encouraged to adapt their homes to enable their long-term independence and quality of life. The scheme helps owners pay for the adaptations by using the equity in their own home, and the work is organised for them.

The two-year pilot will see around 600 loans of up to £30,000 made to older home-owners in Scotland, and the pilot could be expanded to other local authority areas if it is successful.

Link Group Ltd, which is the parent company of eight social enterprises, won a contract from the Scottish Government earlier this year to deliver the pilot scheme.
