Representatives from each charity, Mandy Gillies & David Morrison (Befriending Lewis & Harris), Alex Murray (Neuro Hebrides), Maggi Doig (RNLI), Lieutenant Christopher Thompson (Salvation Army) and Michelle Macleod (The Leanne Fund) joined our staff and Board Members via Microsoft Teams to give some background on their organisation and explain how the monies would be used.

HHP chair, Mr Iain Macmillan welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked each of the charities for the vital work they do in local communities. He reminded everyone of the importance of remaining connected and for charities, including HHP, to support each other where possible.

Befriending Lewis offers a service to those who are experiencing loneliness or needing someone to talk to. They offer a range of different befriending services including face to face, telephone, group and healthier lives befriending which is offering someone a partner for certain activities such as the gym or going out for a walk.

Neuro Hebrides was established in 2013 when patients and carers made the decision to start a local group, they received their charitable status in May 2019. Since then has grown to over one hundred members. Their aim is to provide support and comfort to those living with neurological conditions.

RNLI are a charity that saves lives at sea. They offer a 24/7 search and rescue lifeboat service alongside a seasonal lifeguard service. With support from the public and kind donations, their crew of volunteers are able to continue to help anyone in trouble at sea.

The Salvation Army’s mission is based on belief and faith, providing services to communities in need. They work to ensure vulnerable people do not go unheard.

Providing social, practical emotional and financial assistance the Leanne Fund supports families across the Highlands, Islands and Grampian regions of Scotland. They are the only Cystic Fibrosis organisation that offer these vital services to whole families.

HHP has said it is committed to continuing to assist other locally-based charitable organisations and thank each recipient and their charities for the work they do throughout local communities. Our staff run a series of fundraisers throughout the year with a wide variety of beneficiaries.
