HHP offers fuel vouchers to local residents
Hebridean Housing Partnership (HHP) is providing assistance to those who are struggling with fuel poverty by offering fuel vouchers to local residents.
Using funding secured from the Scottish Government’s Supporting Communities Fund, via Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), HHP can help residents in the HS1 area with their fuel costs.
Residents do not need to be an HHP tenant to apply but will need to meet certain criteria, e.g. pay for your energy via a top-up meter, be part of shielding or high-risk group, furloughed/made redundant or experiencing fuel poverty (where energy costs exceed 10% of net income), as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
This list is not exhaustive and individual circumstances will be considered.
Those meeting the criteria are asked to complete the application form here and the partnership may be able to give a max of £49 credit towards energy costs. Once submitted, the application will be processed the following working day.
Vouchers will be issued by email as standard but other arrangements can be made if required.
Whilst this particular funding is for those in the HS1 area, funding has also been distributed to organisations across the Outer Hebrides. Residents in other areas can contact their local community council or other community groups to find out what help is available in their area.
