Highland Council seeks views on approach to development consultations
The Highland Council has published its March 2023 Development Plans Newsletter, which outlines how and when people can get involved in shaping future development plans across Highland.
Chair of the council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans, said: “Our latest Development Plans Newsletter provides a helpful summary of upcoming opportunities for people to get involved in the planning for their area. The newsletter also demonstrates our keenness to make sure our consultation process is as effective as possible for everyone involved.”
The newsletter provides updates on the council’s four current local development plans, and introduces the new single Highland Local Development Plan, plus the evidence gathering, monitoring, and consultation that will inform the new Plan. It also describes how community groups might go about preparing a Local Place Plan, since the Scottish Government announced the initiative designed to encourage communities to play an active role in the planning for their area.
The council is keen to ensure that the approach to consultation works for the people and organisations who are living, working, and investing in the region. The council is therefore encouraging people to submit views on the suitability of the approach to consultation on development plans through a survey which is open until 5pm on 31 May 2023.
