Highland Council submits plans for 117 new homes in Dingwall
The Highland Council’s redevelopment of the Meiklefield area of Dingwall has progressed to the planning stage with the submission of an application for 117 new homes.
The local authority has enlisted HRI Architects for the project, which will see 114 existing homes demolished to make way.
An information event was held in September, when demolition was almost complete for Phase 1 of the redevelopment of 1 – 23 (odd numbers) on Meiklefield Road.
In a statement provided with the application, the council said: “Meiklefield is a well-established estate close to Dingwall town centre. While much of its council housing stock is in poor or deteriorating condition, there are areas of environmental quality and mature trees which will be retained and enhanced where possible.
“The project will seek to pragmatically address both the nature of post-Covid life, with an emphasis on greater localism, community engagement and healthy living; and the necessity to work towards a sustainable ‘green’ environment.”
