The event, at the Townhouse in Inverness, included an interactive session where discussion groups fed back their thoughts on the main issues affecting rural communities.

These included: issues relating to providing renewable energy; land tax; employment creation; development officer input; lack of suitable/affordable land for development; planning regulations; FCA Regulations re finance; broadband access; infrastructure and over consultation.

Drew Hendry MP spoke about the opportunities for the Highlands and said that the area could be likened to the “new Frontier”.
