Hillcrest staff treated to green away day
Hillcrest Group’s annual Green Champions’ away day took place at the organisation’s Dundee HQ yesterday.
Committed to promoting sustainability and energy efficiency, the day was an opportunity for staff from across the Group, and from throughout Scotland, to get together and hear about all things green. As well as fun workshops and interactive tasks, the day was an opportunity to promote a serious message to staff and enable them to promote this to customers.
Janice Fraser, Hillcrest’s health & safety and sustainability coordinator, took the lead on the event and said: “It’s great to see such a range of people getting involved. We’ve had a fun day but a day that has made people think about the impact of their actions on the environment and gave them ideas for ways to save energy and waste.
“At the Hillcrest Group we are very conscious of the impact our activities have on the environment so have used the day to promote this to staff.
“On the lead up to the day, staff and service users were encouraged to make scarecrows using waste material and rubbish and see what they could create. A number of our Gowrie Care projects worked with their service users who have a range of learning needs to create some truly imaginative pieces.”
During Hillcrest’s Green Day, delegates were given advice from SCARF who provides impartial advice on energy efficiency, sustainable transport and affordable warmth. This advice will be used when advising tenants and service users who the Hillcrest Group work with.
