Hillcrest unveils Dundee flats plan
A new development of 16 flats for affordable rent is being planned by Hillcrest Housing Association in Dundee.
Designed by KDM Architects, the project will see eight two-bedroom flats and eight supported accommodation flats, also with two bedrooms.
If approved, the new development would be located on the site of a former workshop and yard on South Side, Langland’s Street.
The development is part of Hillcrest’s pledge to build 1750 new homes across Scotland by 2021.
David Zwirlein, director of development and new business, said: “Subject to planning permission our latest development at Langland’s Street, in partnership with McGills and KDM Architects, will support the regeneration of the Stobswell area.
“If permission is granted we will hopefully start on site towards the end of this year, or early 2019, to provide 16 two-bedroomed high quality flats for those in housing need.
“Langland’s Street is our latest development in a programme which will bring hundreds of affordable homes to the city over the next couple of years to meet the housing need of local people.”
A planning report submitted to Dundee City Council, states: “In response to the Scottish Government’s aim to provide 50,000 new homes during the life of the current Parliament, Hillcrest has a board-approved development programme to deliver 1,750 new homes in the three years from 2018/19 to 2020/21.
“To deliver the development programme, Hillcrest has a strong development team with access to a suite of policy and procedure documents covering key items including, specification requirements, contracts management, handover protocols and making good defects procedures.”
