Home Group recognised as a Great Place to Work
The housing provider, which is based in Newcastle but operates from Penzance to Dundee and employs more than 3,300 people, has been recognised as the best place to work in the North East in this year’s Great Place to Work survey.
The not-for-profit company was ranked as 33rd best large employer (500+ employees) in the UK. It was also the highest ranking north east based company in all three categories of the survey (Large, Medium and Small).
The award follows a rigorous and independent process in which all of Home Group’s staff were invited to complete confidential surveys giving their opinions on a variety of factors which influence their working conditions.
Mark Henderson, Home Group chief executive, said: “This is one of my proudest days at Home Group. Thousands of companies throughout the UK take part in the Great Place to Work survey and to learn that we were ranked 33rd in the UK was a great result.
“To discover that we were the highest ranked company with a north east headquarters was an added bonus. We’ve achieved this within just a few short years of embarking on the Great Place to Work programme.
“Our ultimate focus is on making sure all of our customers can fulfil their ambitions and live in homes they can be proud of. But we can only achieve this by recruiting and retaining the very best people.
“My colleagues have long suspected Home Group is one of the best places to work in the country but now it’s official and that should help make us the employer of choice for those looking for a rewarding career.”
The Great Place to Work ranking is calculated from a combination of staff survey and audit of Home Group’s management and HR practices.
Tom O’Byrne, Great Place to Work CEO, said: “We are delighted to see Home Group on our Best Workplaces list this year. It is a validation of the strength of their leadership and their commitment to creating the kind of culture which attracts and retains the best talent and where people have pride in what they do and want to do their best.”
