Charity Spotlight: Home-Start Aberdeen celebrates 10-year charity shop anniversary
The Scottish Housing News Charity Spotlight feature will highlight the vital work of charities across Scotland each Friday. To include your local charity, whether housing-related or not, send your story and images to us at newsdesk@scottishnews.com.
Home-Start Aberdeen is set to celebrate 10 years of its charity shop with a fashion show and afternoon tea.
The charity helps families across Aberdeen and offers parents resources to help their children.
Families supported by Home-Start Aberdeen will take part in the upcoming fashion show by modelling “sustainable fashion” from the George Street charity shop.
Store manager Karen Milne said: “There are always hidden gems to be found on the rails. I’ve been stowing away some rather special items of clothing and accessories specifically for this event and I’m excited to see them being modelled.”
The event will also raise funds for the charity and marks the first annual fundraiser for new Home-Start Aberdeen chief executive Cameron McCready.
Mr McCready said: “Combining our annual fundraising event this year with our very own pre-loved fashion in celebration of the shop’s 10-year milestone we’re really looking forward to welcoming a great crowd.”
The event includes afternoon tea, the show, stalls, retro trio The Vintage Girls and a pop-up charity shop.
It runs from 2pm to 5pm on November 19 at the Chester Hotel. Tickets can be accessed via Eventbrite.
