Bethany kicks off Edinburgh Fringe Festival in style
Homeless charity Bethany Christian Trust is hosting a vintage fair at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival in an attempt to provide aid to homeless people in the city.
The Trust has initiated a campaign to encourage visitors to the festival to ‘shop to stop homelessness’ by attending a fair at its retail store located in Leith.
The Bethany Shop, located on Haddington Place, is one of six charity shops situated around Edinburgh. This store will be hosting its second vintage event on August 3 and will provide festival-goers with the opportunity to buy vintage and retro goods in aid of homeless and vulnerable people in Edinburgh.
At this fun and charitable event, for the price of £10, which is the standard price of most Fringe shows, customers will receive an afternoon tea, vintage makeup demonstrations, a photoshoot from a professional photographer and access to a retro fashion show.
Kasia Jozwiak, who is the shop manager of the Bethany Shop, said because the festival attracts so many talented performers and visitors to Edinburgh every year, it can be “overwhelming” to pick what to see or do.
She stated that the Vintage Fair at the Bethany Shop will provide a “first-class vintage shopping experience” and provide customers with a “peace of mind” that every ticket sold will support the Bethany Christian Trust in its vital work, but will also aid homeless men and women “who will benefit long after the festival leaves town”.
