Homeless Jesus sculpture to be installed in Glasgow
Planning permission has been granted to install a sculpture depicting Jesus as a homeless person in Nelson Mandela Place, Glasgow.
Glasgow Churches Together, the group behind bringing the sculpture of Matthew 25, known as the Homeless Jesus, is now raising £15,000 to fund the project.
The life-size bronze statue of Jesus lying on a bench was created by sculptor Timothy P Schmalz who said he drew his inspiration from words based on Matthew 25: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
There are around 50 of the sculptures in major cities throughout the world but this will be the first in Scotland when it is installed later this year.
