Homelessness charity Aberdeen Cyrenians unveils new look
Starting life as a soup kitchen organised by Aberdeen University students, Aberdeen Cyrenians has spent over 50 years providing a range of support and care services to vulnerable people and those in crisis in the north east of Scotland.
From these beginnings, Aberdeen Cyrenians has grown into a cornerstone of Aberdeen, supporting the most vulnerable people in the city facing crisis, trauma, addiction, homelessness, and isolation.
Chris Bennett-Taylor, interim CEO of Aberdeen Cyrenians, said: “Our refreshed brand identity is focused on our openness, inclusivity and willingness to adapt. We wanted to broaden our reach whilst still being inclusive to those who support us, our service users and staff and volunteers.
“Aberdeen Cyrenians may have been around for over 50 years, but we understand that as our organisation evolves, so must our identity. Often when people visit our website, they tell us that they thought that all of our services were focused on homelessness and whilst that’s at the heart of what we do, they didn’t realise that we provide support in other areas, such as to survivors of domestic, gender based and childhood abuse. It’s important to us to raise awareness of these services to ensure that we have the widest possible reach in terms of supporting those in need.
“Our rebrand project began back in 2020 whilst due to the Covid-19 pandemic we witnessed a drastic increase in people needing support in the city.
“As the need for support grew, so did our services. Since March 2020 we have launched five new services to help tackle the complex needs people in our community have been facing – many of these issues have been a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We thought it was the right time to launch our new look as whilst we have quickly had to adapt, we are also always looking towards the future and how we will continue to evolve as a charity to meet the needs of our local community.”
Sam Begg, fundraising and communications manager, added: “Each aspect of our branding has been carefully thought out – from our logo that represents Aberdeen Cyrenians as pioneers for openness and conversation, to our warmer colour emphasising our flexibility and willingness to change as we evolve.
“We are delighted to share our new look and we hope that everyone will love it as much as we do. We would also like to remind everyone that our services are still running as normal and we are here for anyone who needs support.
“Our door is always open and our services fully available to anyone who may need them.”
